YH: How many times a day do you open Instagram?

AE: I´d say at least two or three times per hour.

YH: Is it the first app you open when you wake up?

AE: Probably top three.

YH: Do you have notifications turned on …

AE: …No,  I have all notifications deactivated on all apps

YH: Not even messenger apps?

EA: Well, only What´s app, but I can´t see the messages, nor who they’re from unless I open the app

YH: That’s pretty interesting.

EA: I check it often enough. Any more additional notifications would cause excessive anxiety.

YH: Do you check the whole feed?

EA: I give it a quick scroll, to get a glimpse of the recent, not what happened within an entire day.

YH: So you don’t really care about knowing everything that happened during the day.

AE: Yup. I might scroll through twenty posts per dose. Sometimes I get to twenty and make a judgment call, depending on the content. Some days just …

YH: Do you read the captions?

EA: Some. Depending on the posts.

YH: Sure, that makes sense. Do you post stories?

EA: Yes

YH: Do you check who checked them out?

EA: Umm, nah. I do check but I don´t look into who’s been checking them out.

YH: Do you have any accounts that you …

EA: …. Always check out?

YH: Yes, that you go directly into their profile.

EA: Yes, besides my crushes, I go into one that belongs to a guy called  Punk References. I check that one out and whoever I’m crushing on at the moment.

YH: Do you stalk someone you don’t follow?

AE: Umm, yeah.

YH: Do you admire them?

AE: Yes

YH: Would you say that the accounts with many followers, like hundreds of thousands, are responsible for the content they share, and therefore the influence they have on people?

AE: Yes, absolutely.

YH: Would you consider Instagram addictive?

AE: Yes, very addictive. It generates micro-emotions and we just can’t get enough of them.

YH: Agreed. Which kind of feelings does it generate?

AE: Anxiety primarily.

YH: Do you think Instagram can make someone obsessive?

AE: Fuck yes.

YH: Fuck … yes! I´ve asked many people and I have yet to find someone who doesn’t stalk someone else.

AE: Oh yeah.

YH: We all have our Achilles heel.

AE: Everyone and even if you don´t follow them, you might look them up. It´s fucked up. I’m convinced the internet is similar to how fire used to be perceived. You’d see everyone around a fire and then you find yourself getting lost in it too.

YH: Yes

AE: Fire hypnotizes people. I think the internet and now Instagram does the same.

YH: Aleph, last question… Do you think public personas become a reflexion of what the image they create for themselves, but isn’t necessarily so?

AE: Yes

YH: As if they were their own avatar?

AE: Yes they are avatars!

YH: And they´re not really the person you are looking at.

AE: I totally agree.

AE: Entro al menos dos o tres veces cada hora

YH: ¿Es a la primera aplicación que entras cuando te despiertas?

AE: Casi, esta entre las primeras tres

YH: De notificaciones tienes…

AE: …No, tengo desactivadas todas las notificaciones de todas las aplicaciones

YH: ¿Ni siquiera que te manden un mensaje?

EA: Bueno solamente de WhatsApp pero que no se vea el mensaje, o sea solo que me avise tienes un mensaje, pero no de quien, ni que dice.

YH: Eso es interesantísimo

EA: Esque de por si me meto ahí a cada rato y estar viendolo me da mucha ansiedad

YH: ¿Ves todo el feed?

EA: Veo un cachito, o sea no veo todo lo que paso en un día

YH: O sea te da igual no enterarte que paso en el día

AE: Aha, me hecho así, veinte y ya. O llego al veinte y depende de lo que hayan subido sigo o digo no el día esta muy…. no

YH: ¿Lees los captions?

EA: A veces, algunos. Depende del post

YH: Sí sí sí, claro. ¿subes stories?

EA: Si

YH: ¿Checas a cada rato quien lo vió?

EA: Mmm no, obviamente si me meto sí, pero no me meto para ver quién lo ha visto.

YH: Tienes alguna cuenta que sea como…

EA: ….¿Qué siempre vea?

YH: Sí, que siempre veas directamente de su profile

EA: Sí, a parte de mis crushs, hay una de un guey que creo que se llama Punk Refreneces, me meto a esa y a ver como al guey que me gusta en ese momento.

YH: ¿Stalkeas a alguien que no sigues?

AE: Mmm, si

YH: A esa persona que stalkeas, ¿la admiras?

AE: Sí

YH: Crees en general que las cuentas que tienen muchos followers, que tienen 400,000 followers o millones o hasta menos, de cierta manera son responsables del contenido que publican (imágen y caption) por la cantidad de seguidores que lo estan viendo y que gracias a eso puedan….

AE: ….como influenciar

YH: Sí, ¿como influenciar de alguna manera?

AE: Sí sí, totalmente

YH: ¿Crees que Instagram es adictivo?

AE: Si, adictivisimo y te genera como micro emociones

YH: De acuerdo, ¿Cómo que emociones te genera?

AE: Ansiedad

YH: ¿Crees que Instagram puede llegar a obsesionar a una persona?

AE: Si, cabrón

YH: Muy cabrón, yo he preguntado a muchas personas y no hay una persona que no tenga una cuenta que no stalkee, no hay

AE: Ah si

YH: Todos tienen su talón de aquiles

AE: Todos, y aunque no lo sigas estas ahí… si esta cabrón, esque segun yo Internet es como antes el fuego, ves que antes todo el mundo estaba al rededor del fuego y cuando tu estas en una fogata por ejemplo te pierdes

YH: Si

AE: Y el fuego te hipnotiza, pues es lo mismo Internet y Instagram sobre todo ahorita

YH: Aleph, por último, ¿crees que lo que la gente publica llega a ser a veces un reflejo de lo que quieren aparentar, pero que no precisamente es la realidad?

AE: Si

YH: Como si la cuenta fuera un avatar de la persona

AE: Sí es un avatar

YH: Y realmente no es la persona lo que estas viendo….

AE: Si estoy de acuerdo
